a5c7b9f00b When the fate of their world, Ninjago, is challenged by great threats, it's up to the ninja: Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd and Nya to save the world. Long before time had a name, Ninjago was created by the First Spinjitzu Master by using the Four Elemental Weapons of Spinjitzu; weapons so powerful, no one can handle all of their power at once. When he passed away, his two sons swore to protect them, but the oldest, Lord Garmadon, was consumed by darkness and wanted to possess them all. A battle between brothers broke out and Lord Garmadon was struck down and banished to the Underworld. Peace returned to Ninjagothe younger brother, Sensei Wu, hid the elemental weapons in the far corners of Ninjago. Centuries later, Lord Garmadon has returned with the help of his Skeleton army to collect the Golden Weapons. Sensei Wu turns to the aid of four young Ninja who are to be trained to become the protectors of each of the weapons. Although the Ninja successfully survive a harrowing quest to retrieve the elemental weapons, they fall into Lord Garmadon's master plan, releasing the dark Lord from his prison, and allowing him to escape through a vortex, with hope that he would one day return with the ability to possess all four weapons. Peace has returned to Ninjago, while the four ninja swear to protect and learn to master their Golden Weapons… Awaiting Lord Garmadon's return. The only reason it's Lego is so that people will buy sets. Once you get past that, the storyline is intriguing and unique. There are absolutely no references to them being Lego except Skulkin, which have the cartoon properties of anthropomorphic skeletons. The plot gets more complexthe seasons go on, but in a good way, and you see cameos of villains from the old seasonswell. Suchwhen they visit the prison, or how the serpentine were rounded upwellhumans to fight the anacondrai, not to mention how the skeletons fought the serpentine, and so on. In conclusion, I would recommend this show to anyone, longthey take it seriously. It's not just about legos. **this review doesn't contain specific spoilers but it may contain some vague hints at plot points**

I know, you might think it's preposterous of me to consider a cartoon that promotes little boys' toys the best show ever. And that opinion is coming from someone who doesn't even care about Lego and dislikes the Lego Movie.

But Ninjago is a masterpiece. Is it full of clichés? Well with a villain called the 'Overlord', episode names like 'King of Shadows', and story aspects suchvillainous brothers and missing parents, it certainly sounds like it's full of clichés and edge.

Here's the thing though. The characters are so realistic and easy to grow attached to. Every character has secrets in their past and challenges in their future. Watching the ninja team's chemistry evolve throughout the series is amazing. You grow to truly care about them.

And you grow to truly care about their adventures too. Rarely are plot twists predicted that easily, and the show always has surprises in store for you. Characters suffer in unexpected ways and go through tragic sacrifices that literally change them forever. Yet, despite going through riffs and difficulties, they are there to support one another with beautiful examples of teamwork and friendship.

Furthermore, the show is hilarious. It sure does a good job at making you want to curl up and cry but it is near impossible to go through an episode without cracking up. It can be amusing and downright silly at times, and combined with the powerful emotion and suspense, this makes it worth checking out no matter your age or gender.

So, I definitely recommend giving this show a try. It truly gets better and betterit goes on. Smoother animation, deeper character bonds, more menacing villains, and more spectacular settings. Following the lives of these Lego ninjas is a journey both inspirational and chortle-worthy.

Suitable for any age, and offering entertainment to many different types of people, I think this is generally the best show out there and it deserves a lot more recognition. It exceeds My Little Pony and perhaps even Steven Universe to me (and I like both those showswell).
